500,000 Private Sector Workers Will Lose Out Over New Retirement Age – Council

January 04, 2013

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 4 (Bernama) — The UNI Global Union-Malaysia Liaison Council (UNI-MLC) claimed on Friday, that more than 500,000 private sector employees would lose out on the option of extending their retirement age, if the minimum retirement age of 60, was enforced on July 1.

Council president Mohamed Shafie BP Mammal wants the retirement age to be implemented from Jan 1, this year.

“It is estimated that from January to June, about half a million workers will be retiring, almost one hundred thousand each month from both big and small companies.

“So, what we want today is that the enforcement and implementation dates should be consolidated so that those who retired between Jan 1 and June, will continue to be employed,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after leading about 300 UNI-MLC members to hand over a memorandum to the prime minister’s special officer here today, seeking his (prime minister’s) intervention in the matter.

In Tune specialises in finance and accounting outsourcing, human resource (HR) outsourcing to SME business owners in Malaysia; that traditionally cannot afford professional services which they now can at a fraction of the cost less the headache; so that they have more time to focus on the business operations that matters to them.

Why hire an executive when you can now get at least one qualified professional with an executive at less than an executive pay?
